Our first School Portrait!

Here is our Handsome Kindergartner! Drum-roll please....

Umm...yeah Davis had thrown a toy at his nose.
Nice.

That is why I ordered the CD!
Further use of the clone stamp tool and we have:

Much better!
But for all you relatives in order to get the CD you had to buy the biggest package so you will be getting the marked up nose pic. Sorry!

Look who's standing!

Okay not really, just a girl working in photoshop with too much time on her hands.

Love that clone stamp tool!

What to do on a sick day...

We are sick here. Well, Beckham was sick, Davis is getting it and woke up throwing up this morning, and my throat is starting to hurt. Caleb allergies were so bad he had to go to the ER this weekend and now he is on steroids that depress his immune system and since the H1N1 Flu is raging we are housebound until further notice. We did what any normal family would do and moved Mom and Dads bed right to the middle of the family room to lay, rest, and sleep on. We actually had to be really close to hear Caleb's breathing and so we moved it to slumber party...and to do things like stuff our face while watching the wiggles!

That's what sick days are for.

Caleb watched an episode of Blues Clues about a week ago where they made a checklist for a surprise party. He of course had to make one. He kept bugging me for days about throwing a surprise party and telling me what we needed to do to prepare for it. While John was away on Saturday he broke it out again and I decided since we were bound to home we might as well throw it.

Balloons- Check

Games- Check (Caleb thought up and built this pinewood derby track all by himself)

Getting ready for the surprise- Check
We had fun. Its been a lazy weekend with lots and lots of movies.

Wish I could say the sick days are over...

Not only does the corn maze (pictures to come soon) and pumpkin patch give you hours of fun...the subsequent allergies and asthma attacks from it give you hours of joy in the ER.

Have I mentioned how much I HATE asthma this year yet?

Engineering is in our blood

Lets just say that on my side of the family there are some people that might be lovingly referred to as "geeks." Yes, I know you're shocked, but really us Robers can be a little geeky. John gives a chuckle when the boys in my Family start talking about the stock market and Brian is talking about the Fed, or how Mark is always giving us mind teasers, or my Dads famous "how does it know?" (Oops I outed the geeks...although since I started the sentence with "John gives a chuckle", I'm pretty sure I fit in that category too)

Ive been discovering lately that it has passed most assuredly to our middle child.

Davis is S-M-A-R-T.

Like really smart.

He can tell you all of the letters with their sounds. He can count. He can do some math already. He was writing his letters on the shower door in the steam. I have a hard time explaining it but he problem solves things. You can see him work it out in little mind.

Ive always wanted to hold him back in school because I didn't want him to be the youngest and the smallest in sports because he has Johns heart for sports. But academically he can do more than a lot of kids in Caleb's Kindergarten class and this is before he has done preschool.

What can I say he is the whole package...smart...athletic....and so good lookin'.
He does communicate like an engineer though.

And what is that suppose to mean!?!

Tonight I went all the way to Harmons on the other side of town to buy a special yeast. When I went to pay I asked if they had a "Harmons Card" to get the cheaper price for things. The teenage cashier looked at me like I was crazy.

L: "Sorry I don't shop here much, I'm over in Hurricane."

Cashier: "My girlfriend goes to Hurricane High School too."

L (in a flattered voice): "Wow thanks but I'm not in High School."

Cahsier: "Well, I just thought you might have a daughter who goes there."

WHAT!!!

How do I go from being 17 to 47 in a matter of seconds!

Seriously. Teenagers these days.

Red Ribbon Week

Today Caleb went to school in Red, in support of Red Ribbon week.

Where not only will they teach him about the dangers of drugs
and how to say no to drugs....

they will introduce his innocent little mind to what drugs are.

Does anyone else see the irony in this?

Maybe it is just me...it just seems in order to protect him from drugs they also have to introduce him to drugs.

Maybe its because we live in a small town and Caleb is as innocent as they come.

I guess they have to learn sometime.

Coversations with Caleb

C: Mom did you know boys are cooler than girls?

Me: Excuse me...so am I not as cool as Daddy because I'm a girl?

C: Boys are suppose to be cool and girls are suppose to be pretty. Do you see the difference Mom?

Essence of my life

"Home is a place where we welcome each family member with a sense of belonging. Home is a place where we are free to bring the fullness of our womanhood to bear in every sphere of our life. A womans place is in the heart- the heart of her husband, the heart of her children and the heart of her home. Home is a refuge that we create for every family member. Homemaking is a call to express fully our personhood and thereby enable every member of the family to understand his or her dignity and worth. I am the queen of my realm. I am the heart of my home."
-Kimberly Hahn

Oh my gosh I cant even say how much I love this quote my friend Pam passed onto me. I need to find a place to put it up where I can read it all of the time!

It embodies everything I feel about my life.

Tooth #4

Its here....Hopefully we will have a break from the crankies for a little bit.

Although I'm embarrassed to admit that in the Binkie war the score has hit

Beckham 4 vs Mom 0.

He had to go and get himself an ear infection...cheater!

Beckham breaking down the defenses...

We went to a yard sale this morning in our neighborhood and the boys got a new little people race track. We came home and John and I started cleaning up when I noticed this....

Poor Beckham, they totally blocked him out-
ON PURPOSE!

Its hard to be the baby...although he did get a new and very comfy car seat!

That should make it all better.

Joyful

First off, do you remember this post where I told you about my blogging friend fighting for their baby. The judge delivered his decision yesterday.

They won.

You can read the joyful news here. I sobbed for an hour I was so happy.
Ya, John didn't get why either.

Second, 20 jars of pears...done!

Man it feels so good, now I just have to take care of the mess that I call my house. I looked around last night and thought this is what the pictures looks like when they show you houses after flood and hurricanes! I swear its because of canning season. Anyone who knows how to can without their house looking like a bomb went off I would love some advice!

Tooth #3

My bottom left tooth is in! This one seemed easy compared to those top teeth.

And my Mom is trying to ween me off my binkie....again. This is the third time and the score card looks like this:

Beckham & binkie 3 vs. Mom 0

That kind of ticks my Mom off and she is pretty determined!

Personally I dont see what the big deal is...

Rise and Shout!

THE COUGARS ARE OUT!

We went to a second BYU game this weekend. This one was in Vegas so it was closer and thankfully WARMER!

UNLV has a great setup too. There is free parking right by the stadium at a park and its fun to get there and be able to let the kids run around and play before going over to the tailgate party and game. I always feel bad for UNLV because there are more Cougar fans than Rebel fans but its fun to meet new people. I love that when you are wearing the same team shirt before a game its like you are family.

This nice family was playing football and Caleb ran over and jumped in the game and they even let him be QB.

Caleb is really starting to start to love and enjoy sports (quick side note: he stole the ball away from some kid in his soccer game on Saturday giving himself a breakaway where he dribbled down the field and they scored...I was surprised John didn't cry from the pride in his heart!)

It was a great and fun night...

Well, maybe not for everyone...

They had fireworks for when UNLV scored and it sent Davis into his unhappy place. He hates loud noises! I wish the picture showed how his lip was hanging out an inch or so!

Caleb and Becks...they slept right through it!

We were so excited to hear that you could just go pick pine nuts up off of the ground in the mountains and knew we HAD to go! I'm sad to admit that I'm 31 years old and I never knew that pine nuts came from a pine cone. I was feeling rather dumb but then John admitted he didn't either! So at least I have company in my ignorance.

It was fun! The trees are really sappy and we got covered in sap but it was worth it and I saved my pine cones for Christmas time when I have no doubt they will scent up our whole house!

Davis was the best little helper ever! He loved carrying the Tupperware around and got SO excited when he would find one.

And just in full disclosure I had sweets this weekend. I have gone since the beginning of February until now without eating desserts. I'm not off of sugar, just desserts and treats. But when we were up picking pine nuts we didn't have a lot of food and my friend Pam had given us some trail mix and there were some M&M's in it and I wasn't even thinking and ate some. Then today Pam brought over some Pumpkin roll and I had a piece. (I'm sensing a pattern here Pam!)

The rolls were good but I could eat all of them so I think its safe to say that tomorrow I'm back off treats!

An explantion...

I always get so many comments (both on the blog and in person) that I blog SOOOOOO much. I'm not sure if they are compliments or if people are insinuating that I don't have a life.

Seriously. I'm not THAT bad! And if you happen to be one of the people who have made a comment this is not directed at you. It has been a combination of A LOT of people commenting about how I blog A LOT!

I would like to say in my defense that yes I have a life. A very busy happy life. The reality is that I don't want to forget the small things that comprise my life because I didn't write it down. I wouldn't remember most of the things that I have written on this blog if I had not take the time to write them down.

Consider yourself lucky that I'm letting you read my journal. That's what this is, and one reason our blog is private. Our church leaders have encouraged us to keep a journal and a record of our days and that is what this is for me. I love being a Mom and I love being a Wife. If I were to be taken from this earth tomorrow I want this blog to be here for my family so that they will KNOW exactly what they meant to me.

You might be surprised to find out that John does not in fact actually read this blog very often. Sometimes he skims the pictures but in reality he does not have the time to read it right now. In 10 years what a gift it will be for him to sit down and read this when there is time and feel what I felt for him and what was going on at home while he was at work. And how great will it be for my kids when they are away to know there is a place they can go when they want to feel a little bit of home and it will be right at their fingertips.

Not only that but my kids love to look at the blog right now. I can click on the section that is theirs and they just scroll through the pictures and I read them the silly things they have said.

So the next time you are watching TV just think...hmm this is when Lisa would be blogging since we don't have TV. Or the next time you are on facebook think...hmm this is when Lisa would be blogging since I refuse to join facebook and the combination of not having those two things in my life gives me a lot more spare time in which I choose to blog.

Now if you will excuse me, I'm baking pumpkin bread, cracking pecans that I'm canning next week, and dehydrating apples that my sweet friend Megan's parents gave me and have to have it all done by 4:00 when I'm going to pick up an entire trunk full of pears to bottle and be ready for the apples John is bringing home for me to continue to dehydrate tomorrow when we are taking off to pick pine nuts that I am also canning next week.

I sure hope that run on sentence clears up any questions about how busy I actually am :)

Hey!...guess what?

I got my second tooth today! Its my top left front tooth.

I'm so happy about it!
Except when the sun gets in my eyes when I'm crawling!
My mom also has the last batch of apples in the hot bath right now!

40 pints of applesauce!

Well, 41 but apparently one couldn't stand the heat and broke its bottom right off in the hot bath. My mom almost cried like a baby, but eventually she pulled it together.

It was a whirlwind trip that was too short and we didn't get to do much or see anyone except Tyece and Casey's family. Everyone told us it was way to cold to camp so we camped in their basement instead and enjoyed their company for a day. I left Tyece feeling uplifted, inspired, and happy from all of the laughing we did in 1 short day. She is amazing, as was General Conference!

The boys loved the BYU game.

Davis cried the first 10 minutes because he just wanted to go home or to dinner...anywhere but the loud game. After 10 minutes or so he warmed up to the idea and by 20 minutes he would shout random things that he would hear the crowd chant around him. Caleb especially loved it and even started picking up on the game of football understanding what a touchdown, extra point, and even a first down was. Poor Beckham got left at home with a babysitter but he will get a chance to go this weekend.

That's right, this weekend BYU is in Vegas and we are going!

The boys are pumped!

As for me this week I'm busy....

VERY VERY busy!

I couldn't be happier with my messy sticky house though.
There is such satisfaction in preserving and I'm loving it!
