Funny Beckham

Both conversations with Beckham today...

Becks: did you see that police? That was police not a cop. Cops are bad!
Mom: why are cops bad?
Becks: they shoot people, but not police.

Becks drinking a slurpee.
Mom: can I have a sip
Beckham goes to hand it to me then pulls it back. "Wait are you sick? You have to check you know"

Creepy

Davis: This vampire is not too creepy.
Mom: Good because I don't like creepy.
Davis: I do!
Mom: What? No you don't!
Davis: Yes I do! You look creepy and I like you.

Poor guy!

Poor Beckham has some sort of stomach bug that is causing some serious runs. Hes been on the potty whining, "this is taking to long" and "I don't like my bum bum anymore!" I try not to laugh but its incredibly funny to hear his constant moan of complaints.

He really wants my iphone to play angry birds on but a 3 year old, on the toilet, with diarrhea all make me a little apprehensive to turn it over to him. instead Ive turned him into a pocket poker addict! Poor guy!

"Real" American Hero

Caleb: Mom, is GI Joe real or fake?

Mom: Fake.

Caleb: No he's real. I know. Hes a real American hero, because they said it at the beginning of the cartoon. A REAL American hero!

Mom: laughs...really hard

Caleb: bursts into tears

Rubbing it in

John and I are both feeling a little sore with our immunizations today. We have prescription for Malaria, travelers diarrhea (lovely), and a host of other things they will kill that we can catch along the way. We were told to drink lots of soda because its the safest thing to drink over there! Wha-whoo! It still seems so unreal. I put our mosquito spray and clothes spray in our little box we have going with all of the stuff we are collection to take with us.

I'm SO excited!

Out of the mouth of my babes...

I tried my hair curly yesterday and when I woke up this morning I could tell that I had some serious bed head. Davis walked in saw me and stopped and said: "Wo, Mom you look like a girl Rock Star!"

Last Family Night we were talking about Miracles and asking the boys if they could think of some miracles. Caleb was so excited! "I have one. Bullet is our miracle!" And a miracle he is. He is the only remaining fish of our 8!

M is for McDonalds

Today as John was sitting with Beckham in church trying to keep him quiet he was going over letters with Beckham. He would point to a letter and Beckham would guess a letter or let John tell him what it was. He does not really know his letters but when John pointed to the letter "M" Beckham excitedly shouted "McDonalds!"

At least he's got "M" down!

A CA girl in the gardening world!

I didn't grow up gardening but I did love planting things. I remember every once in a while I would plant a random pack of flowers and dote over it for a while. We did have a lot of fruit trees (Fig, lemon, grapefruit, tangelo, orange, avocado, Kumquat, and we did have strawberries for a while). The thing is in CA you don't have to do much, things grow pretty good on their own.

I started to dabble more in gardening when I lived in Seattle and loved it but mostly I grew flowers. When John and I lived in Orem we were allowed to plow up a little part of the yard to plant a vegetable garden and it did great...until we moved when everything was ripening.

In AZ we finally got our backyard in and planted a vegetable garden and then picked up and moved again right when the fruits of our labors were starting to show. So even though this is technically my 3rd vegetable garden I really haven't had a lot of hands on experience.

Why am I telling you this? Mostly to try to rationalize the words that came out of my mouth in front of my garden sesei Lea.

Lisa: "Look over there we have a watermelon growing!"
(walking over to admire).
Lisa: "Hey my watermelon turned into a cantaloupe!"

Ya, I'm still learning....A LOT!

Why I love our wall

There is SO much to blog about and hopefully I will have the time to do it soon. Until then enjoy this picture of why a wall is so rad in Hurricane!

Southern Utah sense of style

Beckham was running around and decided he wanted to go outside. It was raining and had gotten cold so I told him it was too cold to go outside. He left the kitchen, I assumed to go play. Then I heard "I'm weddy to go owside" and when I turned around I found him like this:

Because flip flops and a beanie are apparently the perfect cold weather accessories :) For some reason Mom still wasn't happy and he was forced to just watch the rain despite getting all dressed for the weather!

A kids sense of time...

A few days ago in the car Caleb asked me who invented numbers and this conversation ensued:

Mom: I'm not sure, I don't know how old numbers are.
Caleb: Does Dad know?
Mom: I don't know, maybe you could ask your teacher?
Caleb: I know! What about Grandma and Grandpa Henderson?
Mom: I don't know if they will know.
Caleb: But why? They are really old!
Mom: Well, I'm pretty sure that numbers have been around longer than Grandma and Grandpa :)

We are so lucky to have Grandpa and Grandma Henderson for all the tough questions in life!

Mothers Day Motherload!

I don't think the boys could have given me anything as special as these!

They got me!

Caleb and Davis came up with this April Fools joke and pulled it off on Mom without any help from Dad!

I can tell already that our boys are going to have a great sense of humor!

An apology

Today I was having Caleb help me by putting Beckham's shoes on. Beckham was not interested in making it easy on Caleb and kept squirming and kicking. When Caleb was at his wits end I told him to try to be patient but Mom understood how hard it is - after all I said with a wink "that's exactly how it was to put your shoes on when you were two."

Caleb looked up an me and said with a sigh, "Mom, I just want you to know that I'm really really sorry."

Stair Spanking

We are in CA this week. Ive been going through my Moms closet and bathroom stuff. Its been full of all sorts of emotions and memories.

This morning I decided to take the boys on a true So Cal adventure to a special store that we don't have in St George (or at least that I have never seen). We went to a donut shop! Happy memories of my seminary days. My boys looooove donuts and so a whole store dedicated to donuts was sure to be a pleaser.

As we were going upstairs to get our shoes on I swatted Caleb on the bum and he protested loudly. I just cant help myself there is something about our stairs and bum swatting - especially if my brother Mark is anywhere around! I told Caleb that its just tough luck - if you don't want to get spanked you better run faster than me and especially Uncle Mark.

At this Davis exclaimed - "Uncle Marky! Uncle Marky! When I was at Uncle Marky's house he hit my bum when I goed up the stairs! But, but, he told me that it was their doggie! Really Mom, really!"

I laughed so hard! If anything sums up many of my memories of my brother Mark it might be that right there. Spanking my bum on the way up my stairs and him jokingly blaming things on something ridiculous. I'm so glad my boys wont miss out on that part of Uncle Marky. I wouldn't want us all to grow up too much!

What our house is like right now....

I laughed so hard at this. Why? Because I live with 4 boys. There is something really yucky going around and my kids have it. Caleb had it for days, got rid of it, now it seems it might be back. Beckham woke up with a fever and proceeded to lose his breakfast all over my car and then repeated that often tonight. If I so much as dared get off the couch Beckham commanded - SIT! And he would point. If I did not obey right away he would just repeat it over and over until I did. So far Davis has been free and clear. I'm sure he will come down with it just as the other boys get better.

My favorite part of the evening was that I had a meeting tonight and when got back from it John had been sitting as commanded for a couple of hours and when the kids finally got in bed he had a few "symptoms" of illness. I might believe him but he always seems to get "symptoms" of sickness whenever anyone in the house gets them :)
Thus, the Man Cold video resonates with me :)

Today has just been all around a stinky day. John lost an almost $8 million bid by $200,000. I guess that's enough to make anyone sick!
