Son Day 2013

We had our traditional Sons Day celebrating yesterday! It was very laid back this year. John and I had pushed the two couches together for a date night movie and the boys wanted to have a slumber party in the little couch fort. It is shockingly cozy! They also may have ganged up on tickling Dad when he tried to take a quick nap :)

They requested chocolate chip waffles for breakfast which they wanted to eat outside on the grass. They also got to pick their favorite dinner - Grandmas Mac and Cheese!

What they wanted more than anything was to play an entire game of monopoly with all 5 of us. We did and it took most of the day. I really like monopoly but John...not so much. He was a trooper though! I do think the boys favorite part of the day was watching Mom and Dad do their chores!

Sometimes I get so busy that I don’t take the time to fully realize how lucky I am to have these three boys in my life! I love them so much and these little traditions give me a chance to stop and well, take the time to play an entire game of monopoly!

I hope that no matter what in my  blogging experience with Over the Big Moon is that I keep my focus on where it needs to be – being real and available with my boys. I am so very grateful for my boys and family today!

Nothing in this world can bring the happiness that family can!

Families can be together forever

In July the song we are teaching in Primary is Families Can Be Together Forever. This is the flip chart I made for it.

Letter to Caleb

Caleb's teacher asked us each to write a little note to our child. She read them throughout the year and the kids had to guess who the letter was about. This was my letter to Caleb!

Celebrating Grandpa Henderson

We had a whirlwind of a weekend in CA to attend Grandpa Henderson's celebration of life. It was such a great party! Great food, great company, and most of all great memories of Grandpa!

There was of course a little golf theme!

I am so grateful for the years we had to build a relationship with Grandpa and get to know him. He had the best sense of humor and was such a hard worker. It has given John a sense of where he came from in his family because in so many ways they are alike.  I am proud of Grandpa and so grateful for Grandma Henderson and the care she gave to him in the last few years of his life. She was patient and even in the face of such a terrible disease she created wonderful days and happy memories.

While we were down there we also had to resupply Johns stock of surfboards! We got 20 this trip!

The boys were troopers will all of the driving!

We may have had to bribe them with a slurpree or two :)

The best news we just found out that one of the gas stations in Hurricane has been transformed into  a 7-11.  Slurpees all summer  long!

How sweet is this picture too!

I sent the boys to bed and when I went upstairs this is how I found Caleb and Beckham. Love my boys and love how they are starting to really learn to have each others backs!

Avery Melissa's Name and Blessing

While down in CA for Grandpas celebration of life we were able to attend the name and blessing of Avery! I just love this little girl and having her get my Moms name was very special. She even was blessed in the dress that My Mom had bought for Savannah when she was blessed.

Kelly also graduated with her PHD! Awesome!

Beckham  and Savvy just love each other and have so much fun together!

Cousins are the best!

Caleb the Angel!

Caleb entered a whole new phase of baseball this year. It started out pretty darn good and we had a lot of fun practicing with him. He had two games a week sometimes going as late as 10:30 at night. It was a little out of control!

I was frustrated about half way through the season because while other teams were practicing consistently once or twice a week, we hardly ever practiced and our team didn't improve a whole lot which was disappointing.

Thankfully we practiced a lot with Caleb  and he did improve a lot, especially in his stance. I did have a heart attack when in the last game they put him in to pitch.

He had been asking to pitch all season and they never once worked on it with him and then just threw him in. I didn't need to worry though he did really well! Almost every pitch was right over the plate but they were just too slow.  He was fast to cover though and learned really quick.

I think we will be practicing pitching this year so we are ready for next year!

Snow Canyon State Park

I got to go on a field trip with Caleb to Snow Canyon State Park. It was a perfect day and so beautiful! We went on a hike to learn all about our southern Utah desert.

Caleb has been so blessed to have Mrs. Mertin this year! She is absolutely amazing!

I love third grade - everyone is friends with everyone and they are still so giddy and fun. We also got to stop at the Sand Dunes and the kids got to play for a little while.

The only drawback - riding a school bus with a bunch of kids 3 to a seat after a sweaty hike :)
