He-Man and the Masters of the Universe

Our Library had some of the original He-Mans on DVD so I checked them out for Caleb and he loves them. Its so cute to see him break out his Mickey Mouse sword and hold it high above his head and yell, "By the Power of Greyskull, I HAVE THE POWER" Its actually a really good cartoon for a 4-6 year old boy. Its slow enough for them to understand and not scary but they also have He-man or one of the other characters tell them something about strangers, or being kind, or teamwork. I can tell Caleb is totally listening to these because this morning we were going to rescue our Daddy and Caleb said, "mommy, we are working together and when we use teamwork we can do anything!"

Some things John and I didn't remember....
  • He-mans outfit is pretty ummm interesting. I cant see many people wanting to be He-man for Halloween!
  • They have cheesy cheesy music that plays over and over during the scenes where they fight
  • Orco (how ever you spell it) is not as funny as we remember from our childhood
Its been good fun and I might even see if I can buy these off e-bay because he loves them and I think they are way better than a lot of cartoons we have now. I felt that way about Scooby Doo too...Hmmm perhaps I'm biased because of my love of these from my childhood!

That's so cool. The fact you even remember stuff from your childhood! All I remember is a yellow teddy bear I called 'Lucky'. Last time I saw him he was on top of a heap of junk in our black-widow infested garage at 1004 Dogwood St. in San Bernardino. I miss Lucky!

We love all those old cartons! Scooby is still my favorite! It's interesting how cartoons have changed over the years! By the way you can get them on amazon also.

He-Man didn't get much run time in my house, but I do remember yelling, "I have the power!".

Wow! Blast from the past... I think that all the cartoons when we were kids were better anyway. Either that or they really are stupid, it's just that we thought they were cooler than they actually are(aren't). Anyway, I wonder if your library has She-Ra, Voltron, and Thunder Cats? Remember Rainbow Brite, and the best afternoon of all...Disney Afternoon with Duck Tales, Gummi Bears, Rescue Rangers, and Tale Spin? Oh, to reminisce...

I loved Heman. Your post made me google some old Heman videos and it was definitely a simpler time.

That sort of reminded me in college when we would host 'old school movie night' and we watched some real classics ie: Karate Kid, Short Circuit, Flight of the Navigator, RAD, Batteries not included, Gremlins, etc. It was seriously so entertaining on several levels.
